It’s a glaring reminder of how a simple yet well-executed email scam can cost a company its reputation and finances.

Two cases of these types of attacks recently affected our healthcare sector. Oregon Health Plan reported a data breach impacting 1.7 million patients. At the same time, Prospect Medical Holdings, a healthcare firm with operations in Pennsylvania and California, fell victim to a cyberattack that could potentially disrupt healthcare services for many.

And the hits don’t stop there. Pennsylvania’s Allegheny County reported a data breach impacting over 967K residents due to a software flaw in MoveIT, a secure encryption file transfer software.
